Specular Microscope
Published On: 10/17/2008
The Specular Microscope measures the corneal endothelial cells. This special microscope is the only way to determine if these very tiny important cells are the correct shape and size. If the shape and size of these cells change from wearing inappropriate contact lenses, a patient may be unable to wear contact lenses at all. The specular microscope can determine which patients may have trouble with a certain type of contact lens long before symptoms arise.
